The Human Renaissance of Marketing.

A few days ago, I was casually scrolling through Instagram when I stumbled upon this new skincare brand… minimal packaging, clean tone, and a personality that instantly caught my eye. I almost placed an order, but a call interrupted me. Moments later, my phone buzzed with a message from the same brand: Were you like checking me out? You’ve got great taste, btw 😉.” I actually smiled. Not because of the words themselves, but because of what they represented: marketing that feels alive. That one line wasn’t automated or mechanical; it felt like a person behind the screen was talking to me. And that, in essence, is where marketing is headed.

We’re no longer living in a B2B or B2C world, it’s officially H2H, human-to-human. Whether it’s a skincare brand, a coffee startup, or a homegrown apparel label, brands are realizing that what truly drives loyalty isn’t just discounts or product quality, but emotional connection. They’re talking to us like friends would, casually, confidently, and sometimes even playfully. The language has changed, the tone has softened, and the customer no longer feels like a target on a sales funnel. Instead, they feel seen.

Over the last couple of years, working in the CRM marketing domain, I’ve seen this transformation up close. With new-age CRM tools, automation platforms, and data tracking, it’s never been easier for brands to reach customers, but the smart ones go beyond the numbers. They use these tools not just to communicate faster but to communicate better. Every message, notification, and email now carries a human touch. You browse a product, and instead of a cold “You left something in your cart,” you get something like, “Hey, you almost had it …should we save it for later?” It’s witty, warm, and most importantly, real.

Brands today understand that retention is the new acquisition. They are going all out to build relationships, not just transactions. It’s not unusual to find them popping up in your DMs, replying to your stories, or sending personalized WhatsApp messages. They’re not afraid to sound human; they make typos, use emojis, and talk in memes. Because that’s how people talk. And when brands mirror that tone, they earn something that can’t be bought ..Relatability.

Look at some of the Indian brands leading this movement, The Souled Store with its hilarious push notifications and tongue-in-cheek Instagram captions, mCaffeine’s self-love-infused campaigns, Zomato’s witty tweets that feel like texts from your foodie best friend, or Sleepy Owl Coffee’s conversational newsletters that make you feel like they’re talking about your mood, not just their brew. They have mastered the art of conversational CRM, using WhatsApp follow-ups that feel like a friend reminding you to check out those products you were eyeing.
And then there’s the new wave of D2C disruptors like Hyphen Skincare, Poshan Skincare, Nobero, and Blissclub ….all creating communities around authenticity. They’re not just brands; they’re personalities. These brands are redefining content as well, collaborating with micro and nano creators, encouraging UGC (user-generated content), and giving everyday people the chance to become their digital face. Instead of picture-perfect campaigns, we now see raw, relatable videos of real customers: unfiltered, funny, and human. That’s where trust is built, not through celebrities, but through conversations.

This, to me, is what modern marketing is all about; it’s not about shouting louder, it’s about listening closer. It’s not about crafting perfect campaigns; it’s about creating genuine connections. Every DM, every comment reply, and every personalized email now carries the potential to turn a one-time buyer into a lifelong advocate. The way brands talk today reflects not just their product but their personality, and customers can feel the difference.

The future belongs to brands that talk with people, not at them. In an age where automation is everywhere, the human voice stands out. It’s not about conversions anymore; it’s about conversations. Because no matter how advanced our tech gets, no CRM tool can replicate the power of empathy, humor, and emotion. The brands that win tomorrow will be the ones that remember… behind every click, every chat, and every cart, there’s a human being who just wants to feel heard.
